Welcome to a new school year! My name is Rochelle Jones and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. This is my 3rd year teaching at Minersville Elementary Center as the Emotional/Autistic Support Teacher and my 7th year teaching overall! I look forward to a wonderful year with my students! Educational Background

I am a 2008 graduate of Nativity BVM High School. I continued my education at Alvernia University where I graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. In 2016 I obtained my Special Education PK-8 certification through Alvernia University. I am currently attending Alvernia University to receive my Master's in Education with a focus on Special Education. I plan to finish this program in May 2020.

More About Me

Over the last two years I have been actively involved in the Minersville Elementary Center Schuylkill Achieve After School Program! I look forward to working with the ASP students again this year! I have been a volunteer with the Big Impact Group, formerly Big Brothers Big Sisters, for the last 9 years and enjoy being a mentor to the youth in our community. In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family!

About Our Classroom

Our classroom contains flexible seating options, sensory items, and center rotation schedules to meet the needs of all the students in our classroom and help each and every student to be successful. Some of the items that we have available in our classroom for student use are yoga balls, lapboards, bean bag chairs, foldable chairs, stress balls, sensory bins, etc. 

We will be utilizing Class Dojo in our classroom as a form of behavior management and teacher/parent communication. Students will earn positive points for completing assignments, transitioning appropriately, participating at specials, and following the MINER rules. I will be sharing upcoming events, reminders, messages, and pictures on Class DOJO. Please consider joining our Class DOJO group! Ask me for the code!
