Degrees and Certifications:
Miss Johnna Cappel
Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I hope you and your child had a wonderful summer vacation! My name is Johnna Cappel, and I will be your child’s Speech-Language Therapist this year at Minersville Area School District. I wanted to take this time to briefly introduce myself to you. This is my second year as a Speech-Language Therapist. I received both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Stroudsburg University. I have a passion for assisting children in gaining knowledge and confidence in communication and “finding their voice”. In my therapy room, I enjoy using a variety of activities and strategies to encourage your child to communicate at his/her highest level, while still having fun!
During the school year, your child will be given a speech folder. Inside, you will find one side will be labeled for items that should remain in the folder and the other side will be labeled for items that need to be worked on or signed by you. I will send home various activities for your child to complete with your assistance in order to practice good speech and language skills outside of school. These activities will all contain familiar content for your child, as they will be the main targets of his/her therapy in school. Practice at home is intended to be quick and easy to ensure your child reaches his/her highest potential (no stress!). If you or your child are ever unsure about how to complete any home practice activity, please write me a note on the top of the paper and send it back. Your child will earn a class “dojo” point for completed and signed homework, following the rules in my classroom, working hard, etc.
As your child’s parent/guardian, you are considered an important part of our team at Minersville Area School District because you are the one who knows your child best. I will contact you as needed regarding your child’s progress. I encourage you to communicate with me through notes, email, or by phone. You can reach me by calling the district at (570)-544-1400-ext. 3222, or sending me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with your child! I am so excited to begin this school year in such a wonderful school district!
